Beyonce and Jay-Z have pledged $ 2 million to fund college scholarships.
The couple – who have daughter Blue Ivy, nine, and twins Rumi and Sir, four, together – have partnered with Tiffany & Co to fund places at five historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) through their associations. The funds will go to Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, Norfolk State University in Virginia, Bennett College in North Carolina, University of Arkansas in Pine Bluff in Arkansas, and Central State University in Ohio. be eligible, with priority given to those who need it most.
Students are expected to prepare for degrees in creative fields such as media, performance, visual arts and design, or history and communication.
Applications will be available on the institutions’ websites from Friday to September 26, and the prizes awarded will vary per student based on their financial need.
