The Portuguese superstar joined the club from Juventus this summer. He scored 118 goals in 292 games in his last six years with Manchester United before leaving for Real Madrid in 2009 in what was then a world record.

In the first half of his second debut, the 36-year-old delighted home fans, tapping a rebounding shot from young Manchester United superstar Mason Greenwood.

In his true Ronaldo form, he raced around the corner of Old Trafford to celebrate his now famous “Siuuuu” celebration.

His debut took a turn after the half-time break, however, as Javier Manquillo equalized for Newcastle after a quick counterattack.

However, Ronaldo again showed why he was brought back to Manchester, securing his second goal of the game with a powerful low finish to put United back the advantage.

Ronaldo’s Portuguese teammate Bruno Fernandes extended Manchester United’s lead with a thunderbolt around 30 yards from goal.

Hottest ticket in town

It was the game every Manchester United fans wanted to see: Ronaldo’s return.

Shirts with his name and the famous No.7 had stolen from shelves and the stands at Old Trafford were full of fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

The excitement was further heightened when, an hour before kick-off, it was announced that Ronaldo would take the start.

The roar that greeted him on the pitch before kick-off almost lifted the roof of the famous stadium, and Ronaldo’s first touches in Manchester United’s red kit were cheered as if he had scored.

Fans only had to wait right before half-time to get what they had come to see: Ronaldo scoring for their club again.
