Instagram would let you see your “favorites” first

In general, I can be on the fence about Instagram. The pressure of being ‘perfect’ for the gram can make me roll my eyes or get bored (although yes, I have succumbed to that pressure before, I’m just human). One thing Instagram knows is what I love are cats, which often leads me to ask myself: why aren’t there more cats in my diet?

It looks like Instagram is working on a feature that will allow me to fill my feed with more hairy joy. According to mobile developer and leaker Alexander Paluzzi, a possible future update would allow users to create a list of their “favorite” accounts. The accounts on this list would be appear higher in a user’s thread, Paluzzi explained.

“Posts from your favorites are displayed higher in the feed,” Instagram explains in a screenshot of the alleged update shared by Paluzzi. “We don’t send notifications when you change your favorites. “

In a June explanation On how it categorizes feeds and stories, Instagram manager Adam Mosseri said the company takes a variety of factors into account. First of all, it takes into account recent posts from the people you follow. Then, in order of importance, it takes into account such things as the popularity of the publication and its format; how many times you have interacted with the person who posted the content in the past few weeks; how many posts you liked on Instagram; and your history of interacting with someone, among others.

After that, Instagram makes predictions about how likely you are to spend a few seconds on a post, comment on it, like it, save it, or tap on the profile picture.

“The more likely you are to take an action, and the more heavily we weigh that action, the higher you will see the post,” Mosseri said.

Food could change with favorites, however. As a fan of many famous Instagram cats, I would love it. You can’t help but feel happy when you see faces like that.
