While the leaks are for GeForce NOW, that doesn’t mean games will have ports on PC. In fact, only some (if not a few) of the games could get a PC version. Additionally, while the rosters may look genuine, it’s worth noting that this doesn’t mean the games are no longer actively in development.
In our previous coverage regarding the God of War (2018) leak, we talked about the person behind the leak, Ighor July. He gained access to this information by thoroughly inspecting the GFN client application. From Ighor’s blog post:
About six months ago, NVIDIA GeForvsThe eNOW service worked differently. You can launch Steam directly and then select a game of your choice. Most of the games are locked from GFN limitations, but I figured out how to run games that are not officially available on their website. I managed to play a Gas Guzzlers Extreme at the time.
So I wanted to find a way to get a full list of games available for GFN. A very old version of a GFN client application downloaded the whitelist.json file which contained a few thousand games. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to get a new update for this file.
Four months ago, I decided to continue my research and inspect the GFN client application. I wanted to test if the old version of GFN downloaded the file whitelist.json could also download other stored information. I spent more time than expected, but it was worth it.
Ighor also explained how this process plays out in a video you can watch below.
