Celebrities who backed Gavin Newsom in the recent California recall election took to Twitter to comment on his big win on Tuesday.
A majority of Californians voted no – that is, against the impeachment of Newsom – in the recall election for the troubled first-term Democratic governor. End Conservative radio host Larry Elder’s hopes of overtaking his seat.
Newsom, who was overwhelmingly elected governor in 2018 in the heavily blue state, faced a recall campaign sparked last year mainly over accusations he mismanaged his state’s response to the coronavirus, the worst pandemic to hit the world in a century.
He was widely favored in the recall election by Hollywood celebrities, many of whom took to social media as election results poured in.

“Thanks for your leadership in the Golden State, Governor @GavinNewsom! TODAY any reasonable Californian will avoid electing a spectacularly unqualified radio talk show host and tRump-wannabe by overwhelmingly rejecting the Republican recall,” wrote “Star Wars” actor Mark Hamill.
“Heard: the vote was so unbalanced, it is essentially abuse of the elderly”, wrote “Star Trek” star George Takei, mocking the Old.
“Oh, and now can we just put that notion of ‘reminder’ to bed forever?” ” added Elijah Wood.

“Dear Newsom, that doesn’t mean we love you, it means we love our children”, wrote a still dissatisfied Devon Sawa.
“CONGRATULATIONS GOVERNMENT. GAVIN NEWSOM and your overwhelming victory! You crushed it. Another huge loss for Trump and the Republicans. The American people don’t want these hateful idiots to be responsible for anything. Gavin – keep moving California forward! Your state is the progressive leader! ” wrote filmmaker Michael Moore.
