Apple Watch 7 vs 6 and earlier: an in-depth comparison

The Apple Watch Series 7 was officially unveiled at the iPhone 13 event, with the wearable becoming available “later this fall.” While the new hardware might appear to offer minimal updates at first glance, depending on which version you’re upgrading from, it can offer big improvements. Since the Apple Watch isn’t necessarily an annual purchase for customers, we’ve included everything from Series 6 to Series 3 to give the best perspective on the differences between all recent models.

Processor and storage

Interestingly, it looks like Apple uses the same 64-bit dual-core processor in the 7-series that launched in the 6-series. It may call the SiP the “S7”, but the processor is the same.

Notably, Apple did not mention the Series 7 processor during its announcement. While we shouldn’t expect a Series 6-7 retarder, if you’re coming from earlier Apple Watch models, you’ll almost certainly notice a faster, more responsive watch.

Another plus, if you’re coming from a 3 or 4 through 7 series, is a storage jump to 32 GB.

Case and display

Two of the main changes with the Apple Watch 7 are a slightly larger case at 45 and 41mm and a larger screen. It is 20% bigger than 4-6 / SE series and 50% bigger than 3 series screen.

And no worries about the bracelets, all previous Apple Watch bracelets fit the Series 7.

Another consideration is that you will get the always-on display whether you are coming from the 3, 4 or SE series.

Battery and charge

Another improvement with Apple Watch 7 over its predecessors is 33% faster charging. This means going from 0 to 80% in 45 instead of around 60 minutes for other models.

If you want to use Apple Watch Series 7 for sleep tracking, you also get 8 hours of use for an 8-minute charge.

However, no improvement in overall battery life, it’s still the same, up to 18 hours.

Price

The Apple Watch Series 7 is offered at a starting price of $ 399, the same as the Series 6. The Apple Watch SE starting at $ 279 remains in the range, with the Series 3 being held for another season at the price. entry fee of $ 199.

At this point, Apple has not indicated when Series 7 will officially launch other than “later this fall”.
