Coming soon to PS5, Xbox Series X / S and PC.
A sequel to the cult, classic sci-fi adventure Outcast is in the works, again with original developer Appeal Studios at the helm.
Outcast 2: A New Beginning, as the sequel is known, takes place 20 years after the original adventure (which came out in 1999) as the protagonist of the absurdly named series, and ex-Navy Seal, Cutter Slade returns for another escapade through the alien world of Adelphe.
This time, the planet is threatened with invasion, as a ruthless army of robots begins to enslave and murder its citizens. Cutter’s mission – which unfolds as an open-world third-person action-adventure that fans of the original should be familiar with – is to mount a resistance, free the people, and rid Adelpha of the robot invaders an once and for all.
“Resurrected by the almighty Yods,” says the ad, “[Slade] has returned to find the enslaved Talans, the world stripped of its natural resources, and its own past intertwined with the forces of invading robots. It’s up to him to go on a mission and save the planet again. “
THQ Nordic – which acquired the rights to the IP Outcast in 2019 – says it expects a “non-linear sci-fantasy story with dynamic plot progression based on player actions,” a jetpack crossing , the possibility of crafting personal weapons from “dozens” of different modules and an open world rich in dangerous fauna and hidden temples. Original game composer Lennie Moore is also back for the sequel.
There is no release date for Outcast 2 yet, but THQ Nordic says it will launch on Xbox Series X / S, PlayStation 5 and PC sometime “soon”.
