Well, another week has passed, which means it’s time for Nintendo’s recap. Welcome everyone. There have been some exciting developments this week, including insiders claiming that an N64 emulator on Switch is coming and an update released that finally allows us to connect wireless headphones directly to our Switch consoles. Plus, the GameCube hit a big milestone this week, as Bayonetta fans learned they might have something to worry about. And while the price of the Switch has dropped in the UK, unfortunately we don’t get the same treatment in the US. Let’s dive in.
GameCube celebrates its 20th anniversary 🎈🎂🥳

If you liked the GameCube in your youth, you’re probably complaining about your back right now while yelling at the kids to get out of your lawn. This classic system was originally released in Japan on September 14, 2001, which means it celebrated its 20th anniversary this past Tuesday. Wait, I have to take an aspirin.
It may not have been a commercial success back then, but this system has created a legacy that continues to live on.
It’s crazy to think the GameCube is so old. Many of the games on this system were so influential that they changed the course of their respective series. Super Smash Bros. Melee, for example, is still hands down the best Smash game because it introduced some important new mechanics that have continued with the series.
VPN offers: lifetime license for $ 16, monthly plans for $ 1 and more
It was also on this system that we had the first two Metroid Prime games, Luigi’s Mansion, Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Resident Evil 4, and the first Shadow Zelda with Wind Waker, among other important classics. Not to mention that he was the first to bring Animal Crossing to Western consoles. It may not have been a commercial success back then, but this system has created a legacy that continues to live on.
N64 on Switch Banjo-Kazooie and other Rare games too?
A few weeks ago, we learned from the Nate the Hate insider podcast that the Game Boy and Game Boy Color games are coming to Nintendo Switch in the near future. Several media have contacted their “sources” and corroborated the idea, but Eurogamer went even further, stating that “other retro platforms are also in the cards”. Along with this escalation, Nate the Hate and his MVG guest spoke last Wednesday about the likelihood of N64 games coming to Nintendo Switch as well, and at one point he even said, “One of the platforms that will be coming on Nintendo Switch Online in the future is the revolutionary Nintendo 64. “
Could this be what Phil Spencer’s shelf has teased us all year?
Before we all get too excited to replay the glorious games of our youth on Switch, it’s important to remember that due to some licensing issues with Goldeneye 007 and the fact that Rare, the developer who brought us Banjo-Kazooie, Conker’s Bad Fur Day, Jet Force Gemini and other gems now owned by Microsoft. As such, these games are unlikely to make it to an N64 emulator on Switch. Now, it’s possible that Microsoft and Nintendo will come to some sort of deal on Rare titles. Maybe that’s what Phil Spencer’s shelf has teased us all year. Still, it’s a long shot.

With the kind of anticipation created by the N64 titles, a separate N64 emulator subscription could launch alongside Nintendo Switch Online and would likely range between an annual payout of $ 20 and $ 35. Knowing that this is our only way to legally access these games on current systems, fans would easily do that, too.
However, keep in mind that Nintendo is already ruling out some classic games from previous emulators, so the same is likely to happen for this N64. The industry-changing Zelda games, Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask, for example. Given their monetary potential, they would likely sell them separately. Super Mario 64 would also be on this emulator, given that it was already available on Switch for a limited-edition physical copy via Super Mario All-Stars. But it would also be sold separately from a set of emulators, considering how it can sell on its own.
Finally Bluetooth headphones without intermediaries What this means for the OLED model

Get the adapters out of here, and don’t even look at me, the dongles. With Nintendo’s 13.0.0 update released Tuesday evening, we can finally connect Bluetooth headsets directly to the Switch without the need for an intermediate accessory. Keep in mind that this update does not apply to microphones on headsets, which is not surprising given that voice chat is not readily available on Nintendo Switch games. It only took four years since Nintendo launched the Switch to flip the Switch and put into service a capability it has always been capable of.
This update was launched suspiciously near the release date of the OLED model.
Now the question becomes, why did Nintendo suddenly decide to make Bluetooth headphone connectivity available out of the blue on a Tuesday night? (Well, Wednesday morning in Japan). It may just have been on the back burner for a while and finally got to be online. However, the launch eerily close to the launch of the OLED model could mean that it has something to do with the increased capacity of the latest iteration of the console. Depending on the hardware upgrades used exactly on the OLED model, it might have the potential to be more powerful than we currently think.
This becomes more evident when you consider that update 13.0.0 included a specific update for the OLED model dock, which is interesting because many people didn’t realize that it could get an update. day so far. Gaming news show host Spawn Wave noted in a video that if this new dock has HDMI 2.0 rather than the HDMI 1.4 that was in previous models, it could mean that the docking station could possibly support 4K in a future update. Essentially, that means it would pave the way for the “Switch Pro” everyone wanted. Dun dun dun! Let the plots fly.
Switch prices drop in the UK but not the USA
Source: Rebecca Spear / iMore
Last week, Nintend’Alerts, a reliable leaker, tweeted that the price of the Switch would drop the following Monday. It turns out they were right. However, this only applies to the UK. When gaming insider Stephen Totilo asked Nintendo about it, he was told that “the price cut was just for Europe.”
Now Nintendo is notorious for leaving out certain truths when answering straightforward questions. It is very possible that they will remain in the US market for the time being, but could bring the price down closer to Black Friday. Either way, it is strange that this was done in one area and not in another. However, it will not be surprising that other regions are also experiencing a price drop in the coming months.
Bayonetta has a new voice actor? Uncertain future
Source: Nintendo
Hellena Taylor is best known for voicing our favorite witch from the Bayonetta series. However, his comments on Twitter this week have concerned many of his fans. When her fan, Yousif, responded to one of her tweets saying, “You are a Hellena icon, I can’t imagine Bayonetta without your amazing voice.” The actress responded by saying, “Well, you might have to do it.” This of course caused several people to ask for more information, to which Taylor replied, “I don’t have the freedom to say that.”
No clear development has emerged since then. Now, you might remember earlier this year that PlatinumGames told its fans to stop anticipating the Bayonetta 3 news because then they would be surprised when it actually came up. More recently, they said the news about the game’s release actually belonged to Nintendo. But rest assured, the game is currently in development and the developers are eagerly awaiting release. In an interview with VGC, Atsushi Inaba, the studio director of PlatinumGames, even said that “there is no need to worry … everything is fine”.
We will just have to wait a little longer. Nintendo tends to have meticulous controlled plans for the release of each game on its systems. Whether or not the titular Bayonetta character continues with the series, we at least know that this game is progressing and is hopefully due for release in the near future.
That’s it for the Nintendo recap
Well, that’s all we have for this week’s Nintendo recap. What do you think of the arrival of an N64 emulator on Switch on Nintendo Switch Online? Which games would be worth it for you? Tell us about it in the comments below.
Till next time.
