The Federal Reserve’s monetary policy committee meets on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. The central bank is unlikely to change its target interest rate range, but could take stock of its plans to start cutting back on its monthly asset purchases. Wednesday afternoon’s press conference with Fed Chairman Jerome Powell will be closely watched.
Economic data released this week includes the Conference Board’s leading economic index for August Thursday. There will also be several updates on the US housing market, including the National Association of Home Builders Housing Market Index for September Monday, new Census Bureau home construction data for August Tuesday, and sales. of existing National Association of Realtors homes. for August on Wednesday.

Merck presents data on its anticancer drug portfolio, in collaboration with the 2021 congress of the European Society for Medical Oncology.
