Analysts tore through mass media that touted the potential danger of Saturday’s rally in Washington, DC, only to find that the actual attendees outnumber the police and the press.
The media have frequently referred to the danger of the “Justice for J6” rally, suggesting it was a sequel to the deadly January 6 riot on Capitol Hill, the day Congress intended to certify the results November 2020 elections. A strong police presence has been put in place in the hope of preventing another scene of violence. Authorities erected temporary fences around the Capitol and deployed heavy dump trucks to ring the rally site, while local police departments and the National Guard were on standby.
One person was arrested in the crowd for carrying a knife and a second man was arrested after someone reported to officers they saw him carrying what appeared to be a handgun, police said .
But the rally did not turn violent, and participants’ clumsy report to the press became clear to reporters from the start of the event.

Critics scoffed at the media for “literally” making the rally bigger than it was.

“Sadly, this lack of participation will not inspire personal reflection among the media that has hysterically touted it over the past three weeks,” said Rachel Bovard of The Federalist.
His prediction appeared to come true as several media pundits tried to argue that Saturday’s uncrowded rally still had massive implications.
“It’s a good idea that the low turnout today doesn’t mean there is less support for the big lie, the Jan.6 putsch or Trump himself among his base,” he said. MSNBC analyst Joyce Vance.
CNN’s Brian Stelter was mocked for tweeting an explanation as to why some media were still broadcasting news of the rally on their front pages, even though it was admittedly a “dud.”
“Even though it was a dud, ‘Small Crowd at Capitol Demonstration’ is still the main story on Sunday’s front page of WaPo,” Stelter wrote. “Why? Because, as the story goes, it was ‘the most anticipated visit by right-wing activists to the nation’s capital since a mob stormed the US Capitol on 1/6’. “

Moreover, critics have shamed the media for focusing on the infrequently attended gathering while more urgent and dangerous issues, such as the humanitarian crisis on the southern border, have largely gone unnoticed by the same media. Fox News captured the chaos under a bridge in Del Rio, Texas, which saw the sudden influx of thousands of migrants.
