The Raiders have injury concerns over Derek Carr and that likely contributed to their decision to add a quarterback to the practice squad on Monday.

The team announced they have signed Kyle Sloter. They also confirmed that they released cornerback Nevin Lawson after his two-game suspension ended.

Raiders head coach Jon Gruden said Monday Carr suffered an MRI after injuring his ankle in Sunday’s win over the Steelers and the quarterback was questionable to face the Dolphins in of the third week. With Marcus Mariota in the casualty reserve, Nathan Peterman is the only save option available on the active roster in Las Vegas.

Sloter spent time on the Raiders roster this offseason, but was released in April. He also spent time with the Broncos, Vikings, Cardinals, Lions and Bears, but never played in a regular season game.
