49ers injury news: Kevin Givens and JaMycal Hasty have ankle sprains; Duke Johnson visits

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to the media Monday afternoon to provide some injury updates. Defensive tackle Kevin Givens has a sprained ankle. He will probably go on the reserved injured list. Givens is due for an MRI on Monday.

The 49ers have a smashed backfield and bring in Lamar Miller and Duke Johnson for visits. Here is the status of each running back after Sunday’s game:

Trey’s sermon (concussion)

Elijah Mitchell (shoulder)

JaMycal Hasty (ankle)

Mitchell is hand to mouth. Hasty has a sprained high ankle. Shanahan said Hasty and Givens “will be away for a while”. Additionally, Shanahan said the team are bringing in running back TJ Yeldon for a practice session.

Sermonn and Mitchell both “have a chance” to play on Sunday. Shanahan added that running back Kerryon Johnson, currently on the training squad, has a chance to be called up this week.

Javon Kinlaw has a knee injury and the team will be watching him this week. It’s the same story as last week, nothing new. Here’s Shanahan on Kinlaw:

“It’s the same situation he had … I know he was pretty positive with it and he didn’t see anything getting worse, I think that’s a good sign. It’s not a bad sign, but Kinlaw isn’t out of the woods at all.

Cornerback Josh Norman has an ankle injury and is day to day. Shanahan hopes to recover Emmanuel Moseley on Sunday against the Packers.

Arik Armstead has an adductor injury which is the same as last week. He suffered the same injury last week and will likely be watched throughout the week.
