Nvidia DLSS now supported in over 100 games, thanks to independent push

Nvidia DLSS is generally worth turning on for an easy frame rate boost, but even after DLSS 2.0 made it easier for developers to implement, the list of games that actually support the technology of AI-powered anti-aliasing has never been exactly off the page. . That said, Nvidia can now claim to have hit the 100 DLSS-enabled games milestone, thanks in large part to a recent wave of indie game adoption.

As detailed on the GeForce blog, 28 independent games recently confirmed their inclusion of DLSS; most have already been released or are in Early Access, with only a few yet to launch. The bundle includes the Nordic town builder Frozenheim, the dazzling FPS Severed Steel, the upcoming Mortal Online 2 MMO and the nature photography simulation Wakamarina Valley, New Zealand, which I hadn’t seen before this announcement but which I quickly fell in love with. Ah, the urge to travel.

Nvidia released an Unreal Engine 4 plugin in February of this year, which apparently made it even easier for developers to give their games the supersampling treatment. Because DLSS generally excels at sparing the performance blushes of more graphics-intensive games, especially at higher resolutions, it’s becoming more common among the AAA crowd – but it’s good to see indies picking it up as well.

The catch, as always, is that you’ll need a decent Nvidia GPU to use DLSS on your PC. The RTX 3080, RTX 3070, and RTX 3060 Ti from our top graphics card picks are all good choices, if you can find them in stock.

In other Nvidia news, they published PC benchmark results for Alan Wake Remastered, showing average frame rate gains of up to 100% with DLSS compared to conventional AA. Beware, however, of internal benchmarks like these; you may see different results outside of an Nvidia lab. It’ll be interesting to see how these line up with independent testing, anyway.

There’s also a new Nvidia Game Ready driver specifically for Windows 11, which includes optimizations for Alan Wake Remastered, Deathloop, Diablo II: Resurrected, Far Cry 6, and more. Windows 11 won’t be released until October 5, but it’s still possible to install and run an Insider Preview build, as long as you meet the system requirements.
