In just a few weeks, the Nintendo Switch OLED will hit stores, offering some nice improvements over the current model of the console. Nintendo Tokyo currently has the system on display and visitors have shared new images of the Switch model online. The images were shared on Twitter by users @cvxfreak, @bunnagashi, and @pati_pss, and compiled together by Nintendo Everything. While Nintendo offered stock images when the console was first announced, these in-hand previews give a much better impression of what gamers will get when the system releases. All eight new images can be found at the bottom of this article.
Announced earlier in the summer, the Nintendo Switch OLED was not what many expected! The OLED model was announced after years of rumors about a “Nintendo Switch Pro”. Those rumors suggested the Switch Pro would have an OLED display, along with 4K support and a number of other improvements. Instead, the OLED model simply offers a larger screen than the current model, increased storage capacity, and other minor tweaks. The system definitely looks like an improvement over its predecessor, but not to the extent that some might have hoped.
It remains to be seen whether the Nintendo Switch OLED will be worth its MSRP of $ 350, but for those who primarily use the system as a portable device, the upgrade price could be worth it! From the new images, we can get a better idea of what the system will look like when customers start getting their consoles. In the pictures, Terror of the metroids, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2 can be seen, and the last two games look a lot more dynamic than on current Switch hardware (Terror of the metroids is not out yet, so it is impossible to make a comparison). The system doesn’t offer any real graphics enhancement, but the OLED display should improve the look of some games, just because of the way colors are displayed.
With the Nintendo Switch OLED release on October 8, fans won’t have to wait any longer to see for themselves what the console looks like in hand! For now, readers can scroll down to check out the new images that have been shared online.
