The National Association for the Advancement of People of Color requests a meeting with President Biden after controversial photos of the southern border showed border patrol officers on horseback rounding up illegal Haitian immigrants.
“President Biden claims on the world stage that America is back, but back for whom?” NAACP Chairman Derrick Johnson said in a statement. “The humanitarian crisis unfolding under this administration on the southern border disgustingly reflects some of the darkest moments in US history. The NAACP added, “No one fleeing poverty and hunger should be treated in this blatant way. For too long, the Haitian community has suffered abuse from our nation. Administration must grant Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to those seeking refuge The actions of the US Border Patrol are deplorable and should be investigated and reprimanded.
“In the words of William Clay, we don’t have permanent enemies or permanent friends, only permanent interests,” Johnson continued. “The NAACP has only permanent interests.”
Johnson said: “We look forward to our meeting with the President.”
The Biden administration has come under heavy criticism for its handling of the influx of migrants crossing the southern border, which was recently highlighted by photos and videos of more than 10,000 migrants, many of them Haitian nationals, detained in “third world” conditions under a bridge in Texas pending their treatment and deportation.

Photos have surfaced in the last few days of Haitian migrants rounded up on horseback by border patrol agents, along with numerous journalists and liberal experts characterize the photos as evidence officers “whip” defenseless migrants at the border.
Border patrol officials rejected this characterization, including Art Del Cueto, chairman of the National Border Patrol Council Vice, the union representing border patrol agents. He said the officers don’t wear a whip.
