The Big Chungus of Chromebooks is back. After a summer of rapid sales for the first Chromebook with a 17.3-inch display, the Acer Chromebook 317 has been upgraded with more RAM and a more powerful processor.

When it launched in June, the 317’s configuration included an Intel Celeron N4500 and 4GB of RAM. It sells for $ 329 at Walmart. According to Chrome Unboxed, it looks like Best Buy is now getting an edge on both fronts with the four-threaded, 8GB RAM Pentium Silver N6000. The revamped model, which also adds keyboard backlighting, costs $ 499 and can be purchased now.

However, all other factors remain the same: 64GB flash storage, 10 hour battery life, 1080p IPS touchscreen, and Wi-Fi 6 support. As for I / O, it is capable of handling load USB 3.2 on two type C and two. Type A ports plus 3.5mm audio and a microSD slot.

It’s a welcome half-step upgrade to a first step in large Chromebooks.
