DENVER – The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed outfielder Cody Bellinger on the injured list with a broken left rib.
The team made the move on Tuesday just before their game in Colorado against the Rockies and backdated the decision to Saturday. The Dodgers have recalled outfielder Luke Raley from Oklahoma City Triple-A.
Bellinger was hit in a collision with Gavin Lux last week. Bellinger has missed 46 games this season with a calf injury and seven more with hamstring strain.
“It’s not ideal,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of Bellinger’s inclusion on the injured list at the end of the season. “But neither is in too much pain to feel that you can perform at some level. If it does and this is where we are at, we’ll have to figure out how to make the most of it. “
The 2019 National League MVP is beating .159 this season with nine homers and 34 RBIs.
Raley is 0.169 in 30 appearances for the Dodgers this season. He was picked up by the Dodgers as part of a trade with Minnesota in February 2020 that sent right-hander Kenta Maeda to the Twins.
