Lil Nas X celebrated the release of his debut album Montero reimagining Dolly Parton’s signature song “Jolene” in a recent performance for the BBC Radio One Live Lounge. Singing in a deep baritone over a sparse rock arrangement, Lil Nas X delivered an intense and genre-changing interpretation of the 1973 Parton hit about a woman with “flaming locks of auburn hair” who can rob men with ease.

Lil Nas X is out Montero This past Friday, and the project includes Jack Harlow’s single “Industry Baby” as well as guest appearances from Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat and Miley Cyrus.
