A special police officer was shot and killed while on duty in Washington, DC on Tuesday night, authorities said.
DC Police Chief Robert Contee said the policewoman, who has not yet been identified, was found suffering from a gunshot wound after 8:30 p.m. in an area in southeastern DC.
Police told Fox News she was unconscious and not breathing when officers arrived.

“It’s unfortunate,” Contee said at an evening press conference. “My heart goes out to the family of this special police officer.”
No arrests were made.
DC Police have advised residents to look for a white Camry with dark tinted windows, FOX 5 DC reported. The vehicle was last seen on Wheeler Road, heading towards Southern Avenue SE.
Police are offering a reward of up to $ 25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction for the officer’s death. Anyone with more information is asked to call 202-727-9099 or can send an anonymous SMS to 50411.

“We are asking for the public’s help,” Contee added.

The shooting was the third in the region on Tuesday, according to WTOP.
At least five people, including a 13-year-old, were injured earlier in the morning when a gunman opened fire outside a convenience store.

Later that afternoon, a shooting – sparked by an argument – injured a man and a 9-year-old boy, the station reported.
