Grey’s Anatomy returns in its historic 18th season with a massive two-hour crossover event with Station 19.
ABC released a new trailer full of high-octane drama on Tuesday promising that “last season’s biggest thrillers will be answered” and teasing that someone from Dr. Meredith Gray’s past “is coming back.”
Fans are abuzz with speculation about who the special someone might be – with several stars from previous seasons already confirmed to reprise their roles at Gray Sloane Memorial.

A returning character appeared in the trailer, actress Kate Burton as Dr. Ellis Gray, Meredith’s late mother who appears to be a figment of her imagination.
“You survived the unthinkable,” Burton tells Ellen Pompeo. “What are you going to do, Meredith?”
In season 17, Meredith (Pompeo) spent most of the year in a coma while suffering from COVID-19.
While she slept, dream sequences provided fans with a healthy dose of nostalgia, as did beloved characters like McDreamy himself, Patrick Dempsey, TR Knight’s George O’Malley, Chyler’s Dr Lexie Gray. Eric Dane’s Leigh and Mark Sloan returned from the dead.

Season 18 will feature newcomer Peter Gallagher in the hospital and the return of Grey’s OG Kate Walsh.
The 53-year-old actress will reprise her role as Addison Forbes Montgomery, which she played in both Grey’s Anatomy and its six-year spin-off Private Practice.

Walsh made a shocking arrival on the show during the final episode of the first season, when she was revealed to be the wife of Meredith Grey’s lover, Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey).
She will become a series regular from the seventh episode of season two through season three, during which her character Addison oversaw the surgery at Gray Sloan.
From 2007, her character was drawn to Los Angeles, the setting for her spinoff series Private Practice.
The trailer for the new season comes after Grey’s idol Patrick Dempsey was accused of “terrorizing the set” of Grey’s Anatomy and even giving some castmates “PTSD” in dramatic new claims.

The people behind his medical drama detailed the dark side of Dr. McDreamy in author Lynette Rice’s unauthorized oral history, How to Save a Life: The Inside Story of Grey’s Anatomy.
In a scathing excerpt from the book published by The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer James D. Parriott explained how “HR issues” ultimately led to the death of Dempsey’s character in 2015 at the end of season 11.
Parriot – one of the book’s more than 80 sources – said, “There were HR issues. It was by no means sexual. He was sort of terrorizing the set, some of the cast had all kinds of PTSD with him.
Patrick, 55, entered production as the biggest name, giving him instant influence, and when his character, Dr. Derek Shepherd – the love interest of Principal Lady Meredith Gray – became the crush. preferred in prime time, its impact on the set has increased.
