Each fall, travel photographer Austin Mann shares a highly detailed and technical look at the latest advancements in the iPhone camera. This time around, Mann put the iPhone 13 Pro to the test at Ruaha National Park in Tanzania.
Mann shared the amazing images and videos he captured with the iPhone 13 Pro in his in-depth camera review this morning:
We spent the last week in southern Tanzania, exploring this vast natural habitat and capturing all of its beauty with the iPhone 13 Pro’s camera. Watching Apple’s speech on this year’s iPhone release, I was very excited about the new macro capability, increased telephoto zoom, and cinematic mode.
As I boarded my flight, I remembered the answers I was looking for: How is this new technology doing?
better our photos and videos?
Mann has covered just about everything you can imagine when it comes to testing the iPhone 13 Pro’s camera system, including the new macro feature, new ultra wide lens, cinematic mode, telephoto. 3x, photographic styles and much more.
Check out the awesome 10-minute video of the review on Mann’s website. For all the details, be sure to check out the full review and Mann will AMA on Instagram Stories soon as well, so follow him on this platform for more.
And here are some of the amazing shots:
While Mann has a lot of praise for what Apple has been able to do with the iPhone 13 Pro camera system, he also shared three specific ways to make things better:
1) Better wind protection for iPhone internal microphone. Taylor filmed all animated content with audio on the iPhone 13 Pro + camera. The internal microphone is impressive and has a nice tone in most cases but still really struggles even with a light breeze.
2) I wish I could turn off digital zoom completely. I wish I could choose between my “main” lens perspectives of 13mm, 26mm, and 77mm and nothing in between. Sometimes when I change my lens I accidentally find myself stuck in between and never found the quality of the digital zoom to be usable. For this same reason, if I had the option, I would also choose to turn off the digital zoom in low light that occurs with the 3x telephoto lens.
3) I want the Night Mode UI to let you manually adjust the exposure to your exposure time and then move on. Often times it will say 30 seconds and then pass right before you press the shutter button.
