“The View” co-host Joy Behar on Wednesday dismissed the idea that Monica Lewinsky was the victim of her high-profile affair with former President Bill Clinton, saying that instead Hillary Clinton and America are the ones who deserve the most sympathy.
The daytime gabfest featured Lewinsky as one of the first victims of the culture cancellation following the former White House intern’s affair with Clinton and his subsequent impeachment in 1998 for lying under oath. But the liberal host said Hillary Clinton suffering the consequences of the saga in 2016 was the real tragedy.
“I would say the real victim here was the United States of America and Hillary Clinton,” Behar said. “If you remember, when the debate was going on between Trump and Hillary, Trump brought in all these so-called victims of Clinton’s peccadilloes.”
Behar, who made an aerial quotation mark gesture with her hands when referring to the “so-called victims”, was referring to the moment Trump brought Clinton accusers Juanita Broaddrick, Paula Jones and Kathleen Willey to a debate presidential in 2016.
MONICA LEWINSKY RECALLS CLINTON’S “LETHAL CHARM” WHICH LEFT HER “POISONED”: “I was in love with him”
“When he brought these women into this debate it hurt Hillary Clinton and she is the real victim. The country has lost a great person – Hillary Clinton could have been the president instead of this criminal we had for four years, ”Behar said. “He’s the real victim.”
Behar also revealed that she does not regret any “jokes” made about Lewinsky at the height of the ex-president scandal.
“At the moment it was funny and relevant. My intention is never to hurt anyone,” Behar said. “I come from a clean place with this.”
This isn’t the first time Behar has disparaged women who accuse Bill Clinton of sexual misconduct.
JOY BEHAR SORRY FOR CALLING BILL CLINTON ACCUSATORS ‘TRAMPS’ ON ‘THE VIEW’
In 2016, Behar was forced to apologize after calling Clinton accusers “tramps” during discussion of then-candidate Trump bringing women who accused Clinton of sexual assault or harassment into debate .
“That’s the thing though… if a woman is sleeping with your husband, you’re not necessarily going to kiss them… that’s why when he brought up these allegations, I wonder if she missed the opportunity to bring it up. in a way the audience would understand, ”said co-host Sunny Hostin at the time.
Behar disagreed, joking that there wasn’t much Hillary Clinton could say to women before offering a suggestion.

“I would like to apologize to those tramps who slept with my husband. “Maybe she could have said that,” Behar said.
She then claimed it was a joke that had gone bad after a widespread backlash.
“I want to apologize,” Behar said in 2016. “I never, ever intend to downplay sexual assault and the women who experience it… I made a joke… I’m sorry.”
