AEW Rewind: Ruby Soho’s For The Monsters, The Dark Order Civil War, More!

Don’t have time to follow all of AEW’s online content? Do not worry. We’ve got you covered with the AEW Rewind, which will rewind last week’s social media tracks and YouTube videos to get you ready for Wednesday night. Dynamite.

A super stacked version of “Road to Grand Slam”, hype Kenny Omega vs. Bryan Danielson, Malakai Black vs. Cody Rhodes, Sting & Darby Allin vs. FTR, Ruby Soho vs. Dr. Britt Baker DMD, Scorpio Sky & Ethan Page vs. Chris Jericho & Jake Hager, Lancer Archer post-show comments after hitting Blackout on Eddie Kingston and Minoru Suzuki choking Jon Moxley, and Adam Cole reflecting on his first win. The episode is long but definitely worth watching before tonight’s super show.

One of the most interesting sound bites came from Ruby Soho. She thinks the fans speak for her. They are her voice, and she is theirs. Soho represents the outcasts, the marginalized and the monsters. She plans to bring the AEW Women’s World Championship home for the Monsters. I can’t help but think of Scott Steiner and his heights, even though these monsters are of a different type. Soho is talking about a big game, but the champion isn’t worried.

Black had an interesting view of Cody. Black did his best to push Cody back by destroying the members of the Nightmare Family. Black explained how this faction never felt like a true unit. As they fought to defend Cody’s honor, the man himself had left for Hollywood. Cody may last longer in the rematch, but Cody is still the same man he was when he was considering retiring. Thus, Black is confident that the result will be another victory.

For the story beats on Elevation and Dark, The Dark Order’s civil war saw 5 and 10 fight against Evil Uno and Colt Cabana. 5 treated it like a fight, 10 saw it more like a match, Uno used sneaky tricks, and Cabana tried to stay civilian. Eventually the emotions turned into a slugfest. Uno grabbed 5’s mask to finish him off. As 5 pushed Uno away, the mask inadvertently came off. Alex Reynolds and John Silver saw it as on purpose. 5 was able to take advantage of it with a jackknife pin to win. Subsequently, 5 extended a handshake to Uno, but Uno refused and walked out of the ring like a sore loser.

Sonny Kiss and Joey Janela faced each other in a sanctioned match. Janela’s muscular wife was eventually recognized as Kayla Rossi. Kiss showed an impressive heart as he kicked out a Spanish Fly and two piledrivers. Janela connected on a flying elbow drop, but Kiss countered a crucifix pin on impact to win. Afterward, Janela hit Kiss with a chair. Rossi hit a standing double backflip to wow viewers.

Dustin Rhodes beat QT Marshall by getting rid of a cutter for a running bulldog. Lee Johnson evened the odds at ringside, so Rhodes could finish with the oscillating suplex Final Reckoning.

These three matches of Elevation worth the detour for the intrigues. The emotion was palpable. 5 and Kiss were set up nicely as babyfaces thanks to the actions of Uno and Janela.

Cody Rhodes was the guest of Shot of Brandi’s return (here). They made spicy margaritas and burritos for breakfast. Cody told daddy jokes and tossed tortillas in the air like pizza dough.

Chris Jericho’s Cruise added Matt Sydal, Mike Sydal, Chuck Taylor, Ryan Nemeth, Ricky Starks, Kris Statlander and JD Drake to the list.

Be the elite

“How does it taste? Being the Elite, Ep. 274 (here) featured:

  • The Young Bucks have signed merchandise for fans. Nick Jackson and Brandon Cutler went on another sneaker shopping spree.
  • John Silver treated Bear Bronson by throwing coffee creamers at him.
  • Cutler begged Adam Cole to eliminate “Elite Hunter” Frankie Kazarian.
  • Ryan Nemeth’s cream film showed meditation at the beach. Evil cream does not exist.
  • Matt Lee retained the BTE Championship against Colt Cabana in a contest by throwing a roll of duct tape to knock water bottles off a table.
  • Leva Bates received a note from Peter Avalon. He blamed Alex Reynolds for having a wife and a new baby. Bates refused to believe the news from Reynolds.
  • Drunk Silver spoke to Leyla Hirsch about drinking urine, then Reynolds stepped in. Reynolds encouraged Silver to sober up, so that they could recruit new friends. Silver hoped for Batista.

We will end with the new Cody Rhodes jersey. I’m not sure if the design will foreshadow anything for tonight’s game against Malakai Black, but it has a reborn flavor.
