Callahan Walsh, son of John Walsh and co-host of “In Pursuit with John Walsh”, believes the late Gabby Petito was in a domestic violence relationship with her fiance Brian Laundrie, who is still missing.
Callahan, a children’s advocate for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), told Fox News that police should have handled things differently when they responded to two emergency calls regarding Gabby’s fighting and Brian.
“When law enforcement showed up, they didn’t have this information from the caller that they saw Brian assault Gabby,” Walsh said. “Mistakes were made. Were these mistakes made intentionally? No. [they’re] work on the information they get. When the police arrive, it’s a scary situation. People are nervous. ”

Walsh said Gabby, 22, and Brian’s tumultuous relationship were obvious. “There were several testimonies from several different witnesses that there was some kind of abuse between them. Who was the aggressor – this line sometimes blurs in domestic disputes,” he explained.
“However, I do know that Gabby’s friends came forward and had detailed moments where Brian was very jealous, aggressive and stole Gabby’s ID card so that she couldn’t go out with her friends and have also did other weird things, ”Walsh added. “The fact that this guy has a history of domestic violence, that their relationship was really in a shaky place and it’s finally happening… It’s such an uplifting tale for anyone in a relationship like that.”
Walsh is also convinced that Brian, 23, is responsible for Gabby’s death. Her body was found in a camping area in Grand Teton National Park, Wyo., On September 19, and the coroner’s initial report indicated Gabby’s death was a homicide.

“The fact that he remained silent, he went on the run. He did everything to show his guilt and nothing to prove his innocence,” Walsh said. “His parents aren’t cooperating with law enforcement… it looks bad. I think everyone in the country can say – almost without a doubt – that they think Brian is responsible for this.”

Brian’s parents told authorities they last left him on September 14. He was heading to the Carlton Reservation in Sarasota, Florida with a backpack.
“[Brian] shows up at his house without his fiancée. Why don’t his parents ask him questions? And if they ask him these questions then why don’t they relay it [information] to law enforcement? “he asked himself.” These are things law enforcement desperately wants to know, and Gabby’s family desperately wants to find out. “

Walsh suggests that it might be too much to accuse Brian’s parents of “aiding and abetting” because, as of Wednesday, Laundrie is still considered a mere “person of interest.”
Brian returned home to Florida on his own after he and Gabby’s van trip on September 1. On September 11, the Petito family reported his disappearance after not hearing from him since the end of August.
“There are no charges against him, so when he was at home, when his parents were helping him – which in my mind is definitely helping him – he was not a wanted fugitive. “Therefore, they weren’t helping or encouraging a wanted fugitive. They were just helping their son. So we’ll see what happens later,” Walsh said.

But he clarified: “What [Brian’s parents] doing is not fair. They should be working with law enforcement, they should tell them everything they know about what their son did the last time they saw him or what they talked about. “
