Alex Guerrero: Bill Belichick treated Tom Brady like a 20 year old kid, not a 40 year old man

Alex Guerrero, Tom Brady’s personal fitness guru and TB12 business partner, was often seen as a source of contention between Brady and Bill Belichick. Guerrero’s latest comments do nothing to change that.

Guerrero spoke to Karen Guregian about the Boston Herald that in their two decades together, Belichick never understood how much Brady had changed and grown and needed a different kind of coaching than he needed at the start of his career.

“The interesting thing I think about there – and it’s just me, a stranger looking in – it was like Bill never really…. I think his emotions or his feelings didn’t. never changed with age, “Guerrero said.” I think over time, with Tom, as Tom was in his late 30s or early 40s, I think Bill was still trying to deal with him. like that 20-year-old kid he drafted. And all the players, I think, realized that Tom was different. He’s older, so he should be treated differently. And all the players, none of them would have cared that he was treated any differently. I think it was Bill’s thing. He never evolved. So you can’t treat someone in their 40s like they’re 20. It doesn’t work.

Guerrero went with Brady from New England to Tampa Bay, and he says everything about the Buccaneers franchise is perfect for Brady at this point in his career.

“This place, we’re having so much fun here. We’re having a great time, ”Guerrero said. “They are great here. The property is great. The coaching is great, the management is great.

In New England, Belichick has excluded Guerrero from the squad’s facilities. In Tampa, Guerrero says he was greeted with open arms at the team’s premises and that many Brady’s Buccaneers teammates are joining him for extra work at the TB12 training facility that Guerrero has opened near the stadium.

“There is a large group of [players] who are coming, I don’t know what the number is. But there is a big group, ”Guerrero said. “We have great support here. The property is super supportive, the coaching staff is super supportive. The players are united. So that was great.

The Buccaneers have shown Brady they appreciate him, and it means a lot to someone in Brady’s position. This is something Belichick probably should have done more.
