Several Philadelphia 76ers players wanted to travel to Los Angeles this week to meet Ben Simmons in hopes of persuading him to join the team when training camp was due to begin, but they were told not to come and that ‘he didn’t want to meet.
Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris and Matisse Thybulle were among the players to travel to Los Angeles. Some of those teammates he considers friends, but he didn’t want them to make the trip out of courtesy as he won’t change his mind wanting a 76ers trade.
Simmons mentally checked out as a member of the 76ers.
The 76ers haven’t received an offer they feel is enough to move Simmons, and the franchise has wanted him to return. Simmons still has $ 147 million over four years on his contract.
