Repeatedly Shot Officer Says She Won’t Resign

A A resilient Chicago police officer said she would not quit the force after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds in a firefight on Friday.

After being wounded in action, the 30-year-old officer radioed her fellow officers on Saturday, saying she intended to resume action soon, reports the Chicago Sun Times.

The unidentified officer who has been in the force for two years reportedly responded to a shooting scene on Friday night when she saw an injured person in the middle of the road.

As she got out of her patrol car to rescue the injured person, she was repeatedly hit in the legs by gunshots, the police superintendent said. said David Brown. Another officer took her to the University of Chicago Medical Center to be treated for gunshot wounds, according to Brown.

The officer was the 12th Chicago police officer to be shot and wounded this year, according to Brown.

“It illustrates their extraordinary courage and dedication in serving the people of Chicago,” said Brown.

Two are in custody in connection with Friday night’s shooting, both with criminal records, police said.
