Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid released from hospital

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid has been released from the hospital and the team expects him to return to work later on Monday or Tuesday.

Reid will not attend his regular press conference on Monday.

“He’s in a good mood and doing well,” said Ted Crews, Chiefs executive vice president for communications.

Reid left Arrowhead Stadium and was rushed to hospital after feeling ill after Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, according to the team.

Reid, 63, has been treated for dehydration and is expected to be fine, a source told ESPN’s Dan Graziano. The Chiefs did not elaborate in a statement on Sunday night what was wrong with Reid, saying only he “felt ill”, but the team said the coach “is fine, is currently resting and was in stable condition “.

He stayed on the sidelines until the Chiefs’ 30-24 loss was over and then returned to the locker room.

Reid addressed the team as he normally would after the game, and at least one player, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, said he didn’t know anything was out of the ordinary.

But Reid felt ill and left for the University of Kansas Health System for further evaluation, the team said. Reid didn’t speak to the media like he normally would after a game, leaving that job to assistant head coach Dave Toub.
