Report: Josh Gordon plans to sign with Chiefs

Wide receiver Josh Gordon plans to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs, according to ESPN Adam schefter. Schefter added that he would initially join the Chiefs’ training squad ahead of an imminent 53-man roster call-up.

SCHEFTER: Gordon has asked several teams to contact him and express their interest in signing him. But one of the attractions of playing in Kansas City was making it a long-term stop and spending several seasons there, according to his agents, Eric Dounn and Matt Leist of LAA Sports.

Gordon, 30, first entered the league as a second-round pick for the Cleveland Browns in the 2012 extra draft. Gordon’s first suspension from the NFL for a violation of NFL policy addiction arose in 2013 – when he was away two games but still had his career best year: 87 catches for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns.

Gordon was then suspended by the league five times for various reasons, completely missing the 2015 and 2016 seasons. The Browns traded Gordon to the New England Patriots in 2018. He played 11 games with the club that season. before retiring in mid-December. Shortly after Gordon made the announcement, the NFL suspended him indefinitely for violating the terms of his reinstatement.

New England beat the Los Angeles Rams in the Super Bowl that season – then relinquished Gordon from the injured reserve, where he was placed due to a knee injury (we have a timeline on Gordon up to this point SB Country). He was claimed by the Seattle Seahawks, with whom he would spend five games before a sixth suspension.

The NFL recently reinstated Gordon, telling him he could be back on the field as early as Week 4. It would be the Chiefs’ visit to Philadelphia to play against the Eagles, although the wait is likely a little longer than that.
