There have been rumors that Asus has teamed up with Noctua, maker of super-quiet PC case fans and that quiet, fanless CPU cooler, to create a custom Nvidia RTX 3070 desktop graphics card that doesn’t look like no other. Although its existence has leaked a few times, taken up by PC player These last months, Wccftech quickly noticed that an Asus employee in Vietnam had posted graphics of the graphics card and other information on the Asus ROG Vietnam Facebook page. These assets have since been retired, but not before Wccftech was able to hang up the pictures and take note of the details.
This new GPU, apparently called RTX3070-08G-NOCTUA, won’t be as affordable as your average RTX 3070 (MSRP of $ 499), plus the cost of a few Noctua fans. Asus’s Facebook page temporarily listed the price at 26 million ng, which is roughly $ 1,100. phew. However, we will not know the official prices or release dates and regions until Asus publishes the information again without promptly removing it afterwards.
In case Noctua isn’t a household name for you, its fans are often the brand of choice for PC builders looking for a way to keep their platform running quietly, while adding a unique look. It is best known for the beige and brown colourway seen above, which looks both sophisticated and retro. Beyond aesthetics, however, Noctua products tend to keep your gear cool while running quietly, while sometimes having a slimmer profile than other aftermarket fans.
Noctua fans have such a good reputation, in fact, that some people have been operating their GPUs, removing their original fans and replacing them with Noctua fans. There seems to be a lot of people who have, after taking a look at this post on the Linus Tech Tips forum. This Asus and Noctua collaboration seems like the perfect option for people who aren’t so familiar with dismantling components. It looks like you’ll pay dearly for it, though.
