Britney Spears’ brother Bryan Spears remains silent on the latest ruling in the pop star’s trusteeship case.
Paparazzi surprised Bryan and his girlfriend, Amber Lynn Conklin, in Thousand Oaks, Calif., On Wednesday, shortly after Judge Brenda Penny suspended Jamie Spears from the legal arrangement.
When a photographer asked, “What do you think about your father’s removal from Britney’s guardianship?” Bryan, 44, declined to comment. He continued to walk towards his vehicle to avoid further questions.
The pap then asked about Britney’s engagement with fiance Sam Asghari, to which Amber replied, “He’s very happy for her!”
“We’re always happy for her,” Bryan added, before closing the door of his vehicle.
Britney’s only brother may not have much to say about guardianship now, but he was apparently backing her – and Jamie – in July 2020.
“Obviously there was a need early on,” Bryan said previously on the “As NOT Seen on TV” podcast. “Now they’ve made some changes and all we can do is hope for the best.”
At the time of the podcast conversation, it had been over a year since Britney, 39, had been released from a mental health facility. The “Stronger” singer claimed in an explosive hearing on June 23 that she was forced to undergo treatment against her will, claiming it was retaliation for a disagreement that erupted during one. of his dance rehearsals.
Bryan claimed on the podcast that the guardianship had been “a good thing for our family at this point, and [we] keep hoping for the best.
Speaking of Jamie – whom Britney alleged in her testimony to be “abusive” – Bryan said: “[He has] did the best he could, given the situation he found himself in.
“We had to work together as a family to keep everything going,” he added. “One person can be on stage and do that, but it’s a sacrifice for everyone. Everyone is involved, to a certain extent, to keep everything going. “
A July 2021 article by Ronan Farrow of The New Yorker alleged that Bryan – along with his mother, Lynne Spears, and younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears – had all benefited from a paycheck signed by Britney over the years.
“Jamie, Lynne, and Spears ‘brother Bryan all spent years on Spears’ payroll and, as friends who spoke to her at the time recalled, she grew increasingly irritated at their efforts to influence it, ”the report said.
In her June testimony, Britney told the judge directly: “I would honestly sue my family, to be completely honest with you.”
Jamie was officially suspended from Britney’s guardianship on Wednesday. At the request of Britney’s lawyer, chartered accountant John Zabel has been personally appointed temporary curator of the singer’s $ 60 million estate. Jodi Montgomery remains provisional curator of the person.
A hearing is scheduled for November 12, during which a judge will decide whether the guardianship will be terminated permanently.
