The Game Awards 2021 will take place on Thursday, December 9, and after more than a year of digital-only events, the show will be held in person.
Although this is an audience-facing event at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, the event will of course still be broadcast live, free – and it promises “awards, world premieres. and announcements of new games, as well as musical performances, including The Game Awards Orchestra live on stage at the Microsoft Theater, directed by Lorne Balfe. “
The event will be by invitation only, and details on health and safety protocols will be announced in the coming weeks. The nominees will also be announced closer to the event.
10 weeks from tonight, December 9th, we will be live on stage for @thegameawards at the Microsoft Theater in LA.
Glad to be back to our full-scale show – that means the Game Awards Orchestra live on stage once again led by @Lornebalfe

“We are very happy to return to the Microsoft Theater for a special evening to celebrate the past, present and future of video games,” creator and host Geoff Keighley said in a press release. “Our goal is to bring the entire community together to celebrate the world’s most powerful form of entertainment and recognize the emerging voices that represent the future of media.”
Last year’s Game Awards saw The Last of Us Part 2 dominate the debate, scoring victories in 7 different categories, alongside Hades, Ghost of Tsushima, and No Man’s Sky.
