Ron DeSantis’ team slams attack ad urging Floridians to ‘beg for eternal tyranny of COVID’

FLorida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s team responded to an ad criticizing Republicans’ ban on COVID-19 masks and warrants.

The announcement, from a group called Remove Ron which mimics a trailer for a movie in the series The Purge with plane passengers warned to enter Florida airspace, is “absurd,” the governor’s office said.

The premise of the announcement is that people should “be afraid of freedom and beg for the eternal tyranny of COVID,” DeSantis spokeswoman Christina Pushaw told the Washington Examiner.

“Critics of Governor DeSantis believe politicians should violate citizens’ rights and trample on the Constitution,” Pushaw added. “They revere the petty tyrants who impose lockdowns and executive decree warrants, and they want Florida to be a biomedical security state like Communist China.”

Pushaw said DeSantis is committed to fighting for the rights of Floridians. She also said her fight for freedom was the reason “hundreds of people move to Florida from locked states every day.”

Although Remove Ron did not immediately respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment, the group posted on Twitter that the announcement “upset and unleashed Ron’s robot army.”

“This ad upset and unleashed Ron’s robot army,” the group tweeted. “Please don’t retweet.”
