Watch the Netflix teaser for Dave Chappelle: “The Closer”

Oh my God, it’s David Spade! Dave Chappelle, notoriously not the guy who hosted guests Baccalaureate in paradise, returns to Netflix for his latest comedy special, The closest. “Sometimes the funniest thing to say is mean,” Chappelle says in the teaser. “Remember, I’m not saying it’s mean. I say this because it’s funny. Whether or not that is funny seems a little presumptuous, but one warning is more than what we’ve received for his previous specials. A proud repeat offender, Chapel offers The closest as its “sixth chapter”, following The Age of Spin, Deep in the Heart of Texas, Equanimity, The Bird Revelation, and Sticks & Stones, each more offensive than the last. Since 2019 he has published 8:46, a special snapshot the day after George Floyd’s death; hosted Saturday Night Live; deleted Chapel Show from Netflix; contracted COVID-19; to put Chapel Show back on Netflix; produced a documentary on his rural Ohio hometown; and won Emmys. Now back to his day job. To concern The closest on Netflix on October 5th.
