The country music legend and icon took to social media to say she was “honored and flattered” by her coverage.
As you probably already know, Lil Nas X has been busy for the past few weeks promoting their incredible debut album, Montero:

And as part of the promotional tour, Lil Nas X stopped by BBC Radio 1 Live show, where he performed a hauntingly beautiful cover of Dolly Parton’s iconic song “Jolene”:

For those who don’t know, BBC Radio 1 regularly features artists doing covers of classic songs by other artists.
The cover of “Jolene” was immediately praised:

… and we got the answer yesterday, when she posted this photo of herself and Lil Nas X behind the scenes at the 2019 CMA Awards on her Instagram (like, she made the grid official):
Dolly captioned it saying how excited she was to hear him cover her song and that it was “really, really good”. She also added that she was “honored and flattered”:
And to make sure people know how much she loves Lil Nas X and her cover of “Jolene,” she tweeted it as well:
I was so excited when someone told me that Lil Nas X made my song #Jolene. I had to find it and listen to it immediately… and that’s really good. Of course, I like it anyway. I was surprised and I am honored and flattered. I hope he will do both of us good. Thanks @LilNasX https://t.co/w7vJWGypOp
What Lil Nas X got this response to his tweet to:
I think we would all have the same reaction if Dolly said she loved us.
