Gabby Petito told a Utah cop that her boyfriend Brian Laundrie assaulted her during their marital argument on August 12, according to a body camera video obtained by Fox News on Thursday.

The attack reportedly took place shortly before the couple were arrested by police at the entrance to Arches National Park. A 911 caller told police he saw a man slap a woman outside an organic grocery store in Moab.

Laundrie, who was driving Petito’s white 2012 Ford Transit, slammed into the sidewalk when the cops turned on their lights. He later told them that Petito had pulled the steering wheel.

“Did he hit you though?” An officer asked Petito, according to Fox News, who obtained a second body camera video of the cops at the scene.

“I guess. I guess so,” Petito reportedly continued in tears. “But I hit him first.”

“Where did he hit you?” The officer responded, according to the outlet. “Don’t worry, just be honest.”

“He didn’t like hitting me in the face,” Petito reportedly told the officer, about two weeks before she was last seen alive. “He didn’t like hitting me in the face or anything.”

“Did he slap you in the face, or what?” The officer asked, according to Fox.

Police body camera footage shows Gabby Petito speaking with police as she responded to an altercation between Petito and her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie in Utah on August 12, 2021.

“Well he grabbed me with his fingernail, and I guess that’s what it looks like, I definitely have a cut here,” she reportedly said, rubbing her cheek. “I can feel it, when I touch it it burns.”

“He was really frustrated with me, and he locked me out of the car and told me to go take a break, but I didn’t want to take a break. And I wanted to go. We have no more water.

The new video reportedly showed the witness that he had not seen Laundrie “hit the woman” when questioned by the cops.

“I wouldn’t say that,” the witness said, according to the report. “I think I saw maybe a push or a push, but not a full punch to a face or anything.”

“You saw him slap him although it looks like,” the officer reportedly asked.

“Yes”, replied the witness.

Laundrie, 23, has been on the run for more than two weeks as police continue to investigate the homicide death of Petitio, 22, whose body was found in a Wyoming park on September 19.

Moab City Police Department chief Bret Edge took leave earlier this week as internal investigators investigate whether cops mishandled the situation by letting the couple leave without filing a complaint.

The two local officers were later joined by two US forest rangers at traffic control, whose footage led former “America’s Most Wanted” host John Walsh to call Petito a victim of “classic domestic violence.”

The Rangers’ body camera images have been kept under wraps.
