Dancing with the stars contestant Cody Rigsby – a Peloton fitness instructor sometimes referred to as the ‘king of the forties’ – announced today that he had tested positive for Covid-19, just days after his dance partner Cheryl Burke also contracted the virus. This is the second time that Rigsby, who is vaccinated, has tested positive.
Rigsby, who rose to fame when people switched to home training during the pandemic, announced his diagnosis on Instagram.
“Hi friends, I wanted to check in with you to share some news. While I am fully vaccinated and have taken numerous precautions, per CDC guidelines, I recently tested positive for Covid-19, ”wrote Rigsby, 34. “To rest and recover well as well as to avoid exposing others, I’m going to take a break in the next few days. I appreciate all your support and will come back as soon as I’m ready.

In an accompanying video, Rigsby detailed his symptoms.
“I tested positive for Covid again, the second time this year,” he said. “Right now I have very mild symptoms – congestion, a bit of a headache, cough – but compared to when I had Covid earlier this year, it’s night and day, so that must be the vaccine and the antibodies that work. So we are very grateful for that. Regarding my fate on Dancing with the stars, we’re still trying to figure this out right now, so please be patient with this answer.
His Dancing with the stars her partner, Cheryl Burke, also tested positive for the virus and was in quarantine on Monday.
In an Instagram video posted on Sunday night, Burke said she was fully vaccinated with the Moderna vaccine and felt bad disappointing her dance partner.
“I just hope I haven’t spread it. For those of you who don’t think Covid is a real thing, it’s (expletive) real, man, ”said Burke, 37.
Rigsby posted a supportive message: “Send our boo @cherylburke all the love and support as she launches $$ covids!”
Burke said she plans to quarantine herself for 10 days, while expressing disbelief that she caught the virus.
