LeBron James confidant drops truth bombs on Kyrie Irving

Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving has been making headlines these days due to his outright rejection of the COVID-19 vaccine. Because of this, he was forced to skip Nets’ Media Day for the second year in a row.

Irving, however, told reporters at a virtual press conference that he liked to keep the matter private, saying he would eventually make an announcement through the appropriate platform. The Nets goalie has always been a bit of a recluse compared to his fellow NBA stars.

One guy who knows this all too well is Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Phil Handy. He handled Irving and LeBron James during their time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Handy witnessed the sneaky playmaker’s introverted nature (via Heavy).

“Until you get to know Kyrie, you’re going to have a lot of speculation. He’s going to say things and things, but people might not understand what the context is behind it all or where he’s coming from. So I always say that a lot of times the athletes, in general, are just in the spotlight where you just hear sound bites or you can see or hear this, but people don’t really know the kid. And so, until you actually know Kyrie, I tell people all the time that if you don’t know someone, you probably shouldn’t be talking about them.

Handy also compared Irving, who is set to lose $ 400,000 a game if not vaccinated, to another person notoriously deprived of Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard.

“He’s very private and his circle is very small and he’s not a guy who really extends a lot to people he doesn’t know. Kind of like Kawhi.

Of course, Kyrie Irving’s vaccination status will be an ongoing scenario for the weeks to come.
