Keke Palmer started a role for herself on Insecure via Twitter and it worked.

The 28-year-old Akeelah And The Bee star tweeted Issa Rae in September 2020 begging to appear on the HBO series, to which Rae responded at the time “Stand by.”

Now officially part of season five as seen in the recently released trailer, Keke reposted her initial tweet accompanied by a screenshot of herself on Wednesday and remarked, “Pay attention to whatever you want “.

On September 18, 2020, Keke tweeted Issa about her participation in the series, specifically as a character who could take on her on-screen nemesis, Condola Hayes (played by Christina Elmore).

‘Hey @IssaRae, there has been some confusion. I posted about my excitement for Insecure Season 5 and now everyone thinks I’m going to be a part of it. We can’t let them down, put me in to beat a Condola ** real quick, ”she wrote.

At the time, Keke also posted the tweet on his Instagram account and added, “Just turned 27 @issarae, I’m starting to appear as an adult now. I’m ready!”

At the time, Rae had teased the possibility when she replied, “WAIT, KEKE! (but also be ready). ‘

Just over a year ago, the trailer for Insecure’s fifth and final season came out on Wednesday and showed Ms. Palmer making an appearance.

Posting a screenshot of herself from the trailer after her initial tweet, Keke wrote: “Be careful what you wish for. Lololololol…. ‘

“Really so grateful to @issarae! I always take my work photos (because I love to work), what’s the worst that can happen? She continued. “Show off your skills, you never know what they can be used for. ”

And Keke appeared to get her wish when she was spotted in a scene with Condola – cradling the baby she now shares with Lawrence (played by Jay Ellis).

In the final season, it was revealed that Condola was pregnant right after Issa and Lawrence – her occasional ex / love interest – were about to give things another chance.

The news prompted Issa to break up, and the coming season will show the continuation of that and other intrigue, including his newly rekindled friendship with Molly (Yvonne Orji).

Orji spoke to ET about the last season and said, “You just have to watch and see, and see what relationships last and what don’t. And sometimes with life there are some that don’t.
