Veteran EA Exec Blake Jorgensen leaves the company

Blake Jorgensen, Director of Electronic Arts, is stepping down. EA announced in a filing that Jorgensen has begun the process of transitioning from his role as CFO and COO, with the executive due to officially leave EA in the summer of 2022.

EA immediately begins the search for a new CFO, which will include the internal and external search for a new CFO. Laura Miele, Head of EA Studios, will take over as COO as the search for a new CFO is underway.

In a blog post, EA CEO Andrew Wilson shared some background around Jorgensen’s departure and other high-level changes in the company’s leadership as she looks to the ‘to come up.

“As our industry grows, it’s time for us to continue to innovate, evolve and drive transformation for our players. Our management team has carefully assessed the opportunities ahead, and today we share some background on the key changes we will make as we move forward, ”Wilson said.

Regarding Miele’s promotion to COO, Wilson said, “There is no one with a deeper trust and respect in our business than Laura to lead this for us. Laura has successfully led EA Studios with strong strategic and operational discipline, and she will bring that focus and rigor to the entire company as COO. “

Additionally, Wilson confirmed that EA Marketing Director Chris Bruzzo is becoming EA’s new Experience Director. In it, Bruzzo will “build social ecosystems that forge stronger bonds and create incredible player experiences in and around our games.”

Here are some other announcements regarding EA’s management structure going forward:

• Mala Singh will continue in his role as Chief People Officer, leading the way we build and support our amazing teams.
• Ken Moss will continue as CTO to fuel our growth with a focus on our technology platform and services.
• Jake Schatz will remain our legal director, guide our evolution as a business through a changing legal and political landscape.

One of EA’s next big games is Battlefield 2042, which was recently postponed to November. An open beta for the military shooter will begin on October 6.
