For the first time this season, Chicago Bears nose tackle Eddie Goldman is not on the injury report, so I think it’s safe to assume the big number 91 will make his 2021 debut against the Detroit Lions. He was limited on Wednesday but a full participant yesterday and today. The Bears have been solid on their 7 front without him so far, but there’s no doubt Chicago’s defense is better with Goldman.
It wasn’t all good news about the Bears’ final injury report heading into Sunday’s game against the Lions, so here’s how they put it this week.
- ILB – Joel Iyiegbuniwe (Hamstring) Out
- S – Tashaun Gipson Sr. (hamstring) Doubtful
- OLB – Khalil Mack (Foot) Questionable
- CB – Xavier Crawford (Return) Questionable
- QB – Andy Dalton (knee) questionable
- WR – Questionable Darnell Mooney (groin)
The Bears will be missed on special teams, but their third phase has been solid so far this year, so I think they’ll come out of it. I would expect Gipson to miss again this week, which would give Deon Bush his second straight safe start alongside Eddie Jackson.
Mack missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday, and he was just limited today, but we saw him limited on Friday and then listed as questionable and it looks like he’s still playing.
Mooney has been limited to training for a few weeks now, but he’s good for game day.
Dalton has been limited all week, and most think he’s still a week away, but the Bears continue to not announce if he or rookie Justin Fields will start. Fields has been a full participant all week, so he’s ready.
Speaking of the game, the Bears are still refusing to announce who will call the games on Sunday.
Here’s how the Lions list their injury report this week.
- OLB – Trey Flowers (shoulder / knee) out
- DE – Michael Brockers (Shoulder) Questionable
- OLB – Romeo Okwara (Shoulder) Questionable
- RB – D’Andre Swift (Aine) Questionable
Flowers is a starter for them so we’ll miss him, but the three questionable Lions have been on their injury list all year and have always played on game day.
