There is perhaps no more intriguing high school football game year round from an outlook perspective than Friday’s star-studded game.

Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), The nation’s No.1 team by MaxPreps, will face No.3 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) In a clash featuring 60 players who have at least one purse offer. FBS.

Most of the interests from the point of view of the State of Ohio would be in St. John Bosco. The Braves present OSU targets Earnest Greene, Matayo Uiagalelei, RJ Jones, Jshawn Frausto-Ramos, Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, Peyton Woodyard and Marcelles Williams.

Two OSU targets to visit Rutgers

Two 2023 recruiting targets that are of interest to the state of Ohio will have a direct glimpse of the Buckeyes, but not at Ohio Stadium. Offensive lineman Chase Bisontis and linebacker Troy Bowles are both scheduled to attend SHI Stadium on Saturday for Rutgers’ game with OSU.

Eleven warriors plans to be at Bisontis’ home football game tonight at Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, New Jersey). Bisontis, a 6-5, 290-pound four-star offensive tackle, is ranked 42nd best prospect and third best tackle according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Iamaleava can visit Columbus

One of the 2023 class’s top quarterbacks, Nico Iamaleava, is hoping to attend the Ohio State game against Penn State on October 30, he told On3 this week.

Iamaleava visited Columbus this summer and can’t wait to experience a game day atmosphere in the Horseshoe.

“With Ohio State, I can’t wait to see a game in the Horseshoe,” Iamaleava told On3. “I was there during the summer and had a great time. I really bonded with (quarterbacks coach Corey) Dennis and (Ryan) Day. They are great coaches, they have a strong offense and I love what Ohio State is. They’re getting their guys ready for the NFL, and it shows every year. ”

Henry takes advantage of OSU visit

One of Ohio State’s weekend recruiting visitors from Akron included Avery Henry, a 2022 three-star offensive tackle who actually retired from Iowa State upon his return home.

Although he does not hold an Ohio State offer, he has consistently spoken with the Buckeyes’ coaching staff, according to Buckeye Scoop.

“I’ve been in touch and out of touch with Ohio State for about two years now and it really started on Monday, game week,” Henry told Buckeye Scoop. “They called me up and said, ‘Hey, we really want you to come down and we couldn’t see you, we want to see you and talk to you. “This is how it happened.

6-foot-6, 305-pound Henry spoke to Greg Studrawa and Ryan Day during his visit. Given that Henry is a local product, there’s a good chance OSU will attend one of his high school games in the coming weeks.

Styles announces the top five

In case you missed it on Thursday, Ohio State’s biggest goal for the class of 2023 has narrowed its list of schools to five.

Sonny Styles, a safety linebacker, announced a top-five list for Ohio State, Notre Dame, Clemson, Ole Miss and Florida.

Styles, a Pickerington resident, recently traveled to Ohio state on September 11 for the home opener against Oregon. Of course, Styles is a legacy, as his father Lorenzo was the Buckeyes linebacker in the mid-1990s.

“It was pretty crazy, I loved it,” Styles said of the atmosphere at Ohio stadium in early September. “It was the most important thing for me, then connecting with some of them, being able to talk to them, I think that was the most important thing for me.

“I have always kept good contact with the State of Ohio. I think a lot of times these are basic conversations. It’s always about football. And of course, they always let me know that they want me here.

Recruiting Styles has long been thought to be a two-way battle between Ohio State and Notre Dame, as Styles’ brother Lorenzo Styles Jr. is a wide receiver for the Fighting Irish. But maybe one of the other three schools is making a late effort to add the nation’s eighth best player and best safety according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Styles also visited Florida and Clemson this season, and will visit Notre Dame this weekend. He could return to Columbus for the OSU game against Penn State on October 30.
