Saturday’s Powerball jackpot was in the lottery top 10 of all time, with an estimated payout of $ 635 million.
The pot is ranked sixth in Powerball history. The draw takes place at 11 p.m. ET.
The grand prize has exploded from a previously estimated payout of $ 620 million thanks to an increase in Powerball buyers since Friday, according to multi-state lottery officials.
Still, it’s well below the record-breaking $ 1.6 billion Powerball jackpot set in 2016. The payout size grows as more and more people play.
There have been 39 straight draws without a big winner, another reason the pot has become so important. The jackpot was last won on June 5 when a winning ticket worth $ 285.6 million was sold in Florida.
Either way, the odds of winning the grand prize are minimal: just 1 in 292.2 million.
Powerball is played in 45 states plus Washington, DC, the US Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
