The recently obtained high school yearbook photos give a glimpse of Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie as teenagers, years before their ill-fated trip across the country as a travel blogger couple.
The images show Petito in his sophomore year and Laundrie as a junior at Bayport-Blue Point High School in New York City.
She looks similar, younger but with the same radiant smile. He is chubby, with a chinstrap beard, a peach-down mustache and full hair.

Although he grew up in the same area and attended high school together, the couple didn’t start dating until after graduation, according to a family spokesperson.

Petito and Laundrie started dating in March 2019, according to an Instagram post from Petito celebrating their first birthday.
A store owner near her hometown of Long Island told Fox News last month that Petito had walked into her store since she was 12, but never brought a laundry. When she showed up to buy a shirt in Laundrie before their fatal road trip, the workers didn’t even know they were dating.
On July 2, 2020, Petito shared a photo of her and Laundrie that she said was taken on their first date.
“Brian asked me to marry him and I said yes! she wrote. “@bizarre_design_ you make life unreal, and every day is such a dream with you.”

He shared the same photo as his first Instagram post, calling Petito “the world’s best side kick.”
Despite their idyllic Instagram posts and YouTube channel, something went wrong over the summer on their trip across the country.
Petito was last seen alive at the end of August. Laundrie arrived at her parents’ home on September 1 in her van, according to police records.
His disappearance, reported on September 11, has drawn national attention. The discovery of his remains eight days later sparked a wave of support and demanded that the Laundrie family step up cooperation with the authorities.

On September 17, Laundrie’s parents reported his disappearance, telling authorities they had not seen him for three days. And on September 23, the FBI announced a federal laundry warrant for debit card fraud.
He was named a person of interest in Petito’s disappearance. A Wyoming coroner later ruled her death a homicide.
