Editor 110 Industries and developer Soleil have announced Wanted: dead, a high-octane third-person action game in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. It will be launched in 2022.
Wanted: dead promises “spectacular melee combat and exciting shooting games” and takes place in a “dark and dangerous version of Hong Kong sci-fi where you will need sharp skills to survive”.
Key game personnel include:
- Director: Hiroaki Matsui (Ninja gaiden series director)
- Producer: Yoshifuru Okamoto (producer of Ninja Gaiden II and Third of the devil)
- Principal designer: Natsuki Tsurugai
- Composer: Dasha rush
Matsui and Tsurugai shared the following comments during the 110 Industries Tokyo Game Show 2021 online showcase:

“[The protagonist is] a strong woman with a large build. But just because she’s powerful doesn’t mean she’s happy forever. Just like she would in real life, she has her own issues. She’s supposed to be an ordinary human, but she ends up with a dangerous set of skills. These talents end up throwing her on life and death missions.
“Obviously this comes with its own kind of difficulty. And she doesn’t just run around and say, ‘Oh my God! I’m so afraid!’ She takes it all head-on. At least on the surface, she doesn’t seem emotional as she takes on her challenges. I think it gives our heroine a bit of a harsh appeal. It is his character. I think she is both strong and beautiful is attractive. But at the same time, she is very human. She hides this humanity in her. She’s filled with that uncompromising attitude I mentioned earlier, where she barely lets her humanity show itself. He’s a very cool character, I think. I think it’s attractive.
“Of course, since I’ve been doing action games for a while, I have a lot of parts that I would be picky about. Especially in the action parts themselves. I’ve been doing cutscenes and story scenes in games like this for a long time. So I wanted the narration of this one to be RIGHT. “

“We also try a very hardcore game, very different from the Japanese customers. Most Japanese publishers are heading down a path where they want a lot of casual games. But 110 Industries was straightforward from the start and said they wanted a hardcore game. They were very passionate about it. And since we had been making difficult action games for a long time… we could manage very easily.
“We both wanted to make a hardcore game. It was as if we had very similar wishes. It felt like we were able to figure out what kind of hardcore gaming we wanted to do, and for all the big politics we were all on the same page. Since the screenplay and the IP are all original work, they have all this passion for what they do. We can’t really interfere with this. But we really want to take the charm that their ideas have, and their passion.
“And since we’re doing a hardcore game, we don’t have to worry too much about definitions. With a Japanese publisher, we would have enabled screen reader support to understand what exactly “relaxed” means for a specific game. And it is difficult. With hardcore play, we don’t have to do that. And it has been very easy so far.
