Tesla made a record number of vehicle deliveries in the third quarter of 2021, beating Wall Street estimates, the company said in a press release.
The company shipped 241,300 globally between July and September, up 73% from last year. Of these, 232,025 were its Models 3 and Y.
According to estimates collected by StreetAccount as of September 30, analysts have predicted that Tesla will deliver around 220,900 cars in the third quarter of this year.
“Our number of deliveries should be viewed as slightly conservative, as we only count a car as delivered if it is transferred to the customer and all paperwork is correct,” Tesla said in its report.
He added that the final figures could vary by 0.5% or more.
Tesla weathered the chip crisis better than its competitors, with overall third quarter deliveries rising 20% from its previous high in the second quarter, Reuters reported.
“We would like to thank our customers for their patience as we tackle the challenges of the global supply chain and logistics,” Tesla added in its corporate report.
In a corporate email seen by Reuters last month, CEO Elon Musk said Tesla suffered from a severe parts shortage at the start of the third quarter. He also reportedly urged employees to “get super hardcore” to end the quarter strong.
