New Delhi:

Aryan Khan, the son of movie star Shah Rukh Khan, was denied bail today after his arrest yesterday in connection with the Mumbai cruise drug seizure. The 23-year-old was taken into custody by the anti-drug agency Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) until Thursday by a court in Mumbai.

“The investigation is of paramount importance and it must be carried out. It benefits both the accused and the investigator,” said a judge.

Aryan Khan’s friend Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha were also held in NCB detention until October 7 (Thursday). They were “in tears” when the judge announced the decision.

All three were arrested on Sunday after the anti-drug agency raided an alleged Saturday night rave on the “Cordelia” cruise sailing from Mumbai to Goa.

The raids produced 13 grams of cocaine, 21 grams of charas, 22 MDMA pills and 5 grams of MD, the NCB said. The drugs were concealed in clothing, underwear and handbags, the Press Trust of India news agency reported, citing an unnamed drug bureau official.

The agency told the court they need Aryan Khan in custody until October 11 (Monday week) for questioning. They also alleged that the case involved an international drug cartel.

“Unless you investigate the consumer, how do you know who the supplier is, who is funding them,” NCB said.

“The links in the form of cats etc. show the involvement of an international cartel. It is a group of people, like a gang,” the agency’s lawyer told the court, adding that “names code “had been found in Aryan Khan’s chats and links. bank and cash transfers that needed to be verified.

Aryan Khan has argued that he was a special guest on the cruise ship and that he “cannot be associated with any seizure in the matter”.

He said investigators found nothing in his bag and found 6 grams in his bag, “a small amount.”

He also said officials only found chats on his phone and “WhatsApp chats with no recovery” didn’t matter.

“During my entire stay on board, I was not involved in any drug use,” said senior lawyer Satish Maneshinde, representing Aryan Khan.

“One of the grounds for requesting my custody is the seizure of a commercial quantity from other defendants. The commercial quantity seized from other defendants cannot be imposed on me. They are talking about international drug trafficking which is a very serious charge and must be substantiated by evidence, ”said Aryan Khan.

Aryan Khan has been charged with purchasing, possessing and using prohibited substances.
