Raw aired tonight (October 4) with a live performance from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. This is the second Raw episode during the four-week build around Crown Jewel 2021 October 21 in Saudi Arabia.
Tonight’s episode is the second night of the WWE Draft. You can check out the full results of the first night here, as well as any additional picks made over the weekend here.
Goldberg is back to stage another terrible game in Saudi Arabia
Bill Goldberg will return to Raw tonight for the first time since a referee stopped his match against Bobby Lashley at Slam summer. Goldberg has vowed revenge on Lashley for getting his hands on his son, Gage, at this event. He recently made the following threat to the former WWE Champion:
“I’m going to hurt you badly. Damn, if I’m lucky, I’ll even kill you. One thing people seem to forget about Goldberg is that during this process, I’m going to be enjoying every second. “
This man looks like a sociopath. Is he going to show he’s a good father by profiting from his murder of someone else’s father? Did Goldberg learn this way of thinking from Armed Anderson during the WCW era in the 90s?
The most likely scenario is that Bill vs.Bob will be booked for Crown jewel in Saudi Arabia later this month. Goldberg has battled The Undertaker and The Fiend there before, and both matches were a disaster, for very different reasons. Given Goldberg’s obvious limitations, it could easily be more or less the same.
Goldberg’s match with Lashley at Slam summer ranked among the three worst matches of the evening. Now that there’s no more track in the mix, maybe Goldberg will just roll the guy like he did with everyone else in WCW. This is probably the best case scenario from a match quality perspective, as asking Goldberg to do anything other than that causes problems.
It looks like Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin have joined Hurt Business, at least for now. So, as for tonight’s show, don’t be surprised if Lashley escapes Goldberg’s murderous hands, but Alexander and Benjamin end up eating spears and jackhammers for him.
The title scene
Big E beat Lashley in a steel cage last week to keep the WWE Championship. He became the first draft pick for Raw the first night of the WWE Draft. The new lists will not come into force until after Crown jewel. If Lashley is concerned about Goldberg’s homicide until then, it means Big E will need a new challenger from the current one. Raw list to face him in Saudi Arabia. Drew McIntyre stepped up to the plate with his giant sword last week, so it might be Big E against McIntyre for the title on October 21.
Charlotte Flair was pretty busy last week. She successfully defended the Raw women’s championship in separate matches against Alexa Bliss and Doudrop, then became the first woman chosen in the WWE Draft. Charlotte was recruited for Smack down, which means the Red Mark may not have a champion when the roster changes go into effect on October 22. WWE is highly unlikely to leave Raw without a singles champion for the women’s division, so it’s a safe bet that one of the titles will change in the coming weeks, or Smack down women’s champion Becky Lynch will be drafted until Monday night. WWE had the Raw and Smack down the tag champions physically exchanged their belts last year when they were drafted for different shows. It’s a stupid way to handle the draft, but we could envision the exact same scenario this year with Flair and Lynch.
Randy Orton and Mast Riddle will stay on Monday evenings as they were drafted for Raw. It’s unclear what’s going on with Orton right now, but Riddle lost a singles match to AJ Styles last week. Therefore, we could see Styles & Omos challenging RK-Bro for the Raw tag team titles in Saudi Arabia, unless WWE feels the need to charge Raw with a few league games before that to increase the odds.
Damian Priest will be drafted in tonight’s episode. The United States champion apparently pulled Sheamus and his Broken Nose out of the title mix once and for all last week, so like Big E, he will likely have a new opponent challenging him for the title at Crown jewel.
Rhea Ripley and Nikki ASH are the Women’s team champions, corn Raw has no teams to face. Maybe it will change if Raw drafte Shotzi & Nox, Tamina & Natalya, or a team from NXT.
Reggie’s 24/7 Championship Last week’s match against this Ricochet jabroni was interrupted by the usual assortment of jobbers chasing the belt. Now that Drew Gulak has been drafted for Smack down, maybe Ricochet will definitely take his place in the jobber pool if he stays on Raw after the draft.
Other things to watch out for
– Paul Heyman will be on hand tonight to make sure Jimmy and Jey Uso are drafted for Smack down. If Paul fails to do the job, the Usos have orders from the tribal chief to “leave him for dead at Raw. “It looks like there is a good chance that free agent Brock Lesnar will show up to make sure things don’t go right here for Heyman or the Usos.
– Reconditioned Elias and his new white hat were not mentioned on Raw in several weeks. Elias made his return to WWE TV on the second night of last year’s draft, and I bet the same is happening tonight.
– Karrion Kross always crushes people like Jaxson Ryker and John Morrison, and waits to be drafted.
– Shayna Baszler loves breaking or breaking her elbows lately. His current victims include Nia Jax and Eva Marie. Who’s next? If Dana Brooke appears on Raw for the first time in months, we’ll probably know the answer to that question.
– Angel Garza defeated Viking Raider Erik last week. Does that mean Humberto Carrillo will take on Viking Raider Ivar tonight? Or will this special attraction be kept for Main event?
– Several draft picks on the first night went to NXT wrestlers. The rumor mill says there is reason to suspect Ridge Holland and Xia Li will be among the NXT wrestlers who are drafted on the second night.
– Some of the remaining stars who could be drafted tonight include Becky Lynch, Seth Rollins, The Hurt Business, Sasha Banks, The Usos, The Street Profits, AJ Styles & Omos, Damian Priest, Karrion Kross, Finn Balor, Shinsuke Nakamura & Rick Boogs, Kevin Owens, Sheamus, Shotzi & Nox, Liv Morgan, Cesaro, Carmella, Shayna Baszler, Sami Zayn, Eva Marie, Jinder Mahal (with Veer & Shanky), Dirty Dawgs, Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo, Asuka, Alexa Bliss, Elias, Jaxson Ryker, Viking Raiders, The Miz, Ricochet, Natalya & Tamina, Lucha House Party, Titus O’Neil, Mia Yim, Lacey Evans and Bayley. And let’s not forget Outback Slapjack, WWE’s fastest rising star.
What will you look for on Raw this evening?
