The list of Forza Horizon 5 achievements (be sure to click this link to see the full list) is varied, offering many achievements we’ve seen in previous Forza Horizon games and a few new ones. We’ve got hundreds of collectibles to research (there’s definitely more focus on taking photos in FH5), stars to earn, and even an achievement for FH5’s battle royale mode, love or hate, The Eliminator (deep down, you knew it was coming).
As with all Horizon games, we’ll be spinning the start line wheels with the mandatory ‘Welcome to Mexico‘achievement to arrive at the Horizon Festival Mexico, which is worth 10G. This is a basic achievement that we are used to seeing in every Horizon title after completing this impressive first showcase race that introduces us to the campaign. Returning from FH2 and FH3, there are different festival sites, called Outposts in FH5, and we have five to unlock with an achievement related to each. Each outpost relates to a different style of racing or activity (road racing, dirt racing, cross country racing, PR stunts, and street racing) and offers new challenges to unlock once built .
Clearly, this core achievement list was designed for us to explore every inch of what Forza Horizon 5 has to offer, including a few new and exciting additions. The ‘Show me your moves!‘requires you to experience the crazy new functionality of EventLab by playing an EventLab event created by another player. EventLab is essentially a level editor and is similar to Super7 in some ways, but more powerful, letting you place items and create races with your own rules and objectives in a variety of different modes. The achievement is easy to unlock, but it was clearly designed to steer everyone towards the new feature in the hopes that the Horizon community will begin to create some of their own imaginative levels. There’s also the new Horizon Arcade mode, which has two related achievements: ‘Icebreaker, ‘which requires you to participate in an arcade event and’Unlimited feat!, ‘where you complete the third round of the five Horizon Arcade themes. The Arcade offers over 130 mini-games which are spontaneous public events that dynamically unfold on the FH5 map. ‘Unlimited feat!‘could get a little tricky, depending on how often they spawn and the number of Arcade Challenges included in a round. Then there’s the new Horizon Tour mode with two attached achievements. ‘Tourist attraction, ‘a simple achievement that asks you to complete your first Horizon Tour event and’Front runner‘, which requires you to complete five Horizon Tour races “before all Drivatars”. Horizon Tour allows you to meet five other players and participate in cooperative races against AI Drivatars. The ‘Front runnerThe achievement could prove to be difficult to unlock, given that you will have to complete five of those races, beating all the other Drivatars – it will be interesting to see if reducing the difficulty of the game will make this one easier or not.
Sticking to Drivatars and Difficulty, one achievement that seems particularly difficult is’Unbeatable triumph. ‘ To unlock this achievement, you’ll need to win six different Race Events against Unbeatable Drivatars – only Forza Horizon and Forza Horizon 3 had difficulty-specific achievements similar to this one. If Unbeatable is anything like Expert difficulty in Forza Horizon 4, you’re definitely going to need to channel a mix of Sebastian Vettel and Ken Block within you to make the achievement burst.
As we move away from AI opponents, we have an achievement that will surely scare those who hate any form of Battle Royale mode or game. Forza Horizon 4 introduced The Eliminator, a battle royale mode where 72 players compete to be the last pilot to go head-to-head in one-on-one events in an open area that shrinks over time. In FH4, the title update that added The Eliminator brought 15 mode-related achievements, some of which are extremely difficult. In FH5, the ‘Chicken dinnerAchieving requires you to win a round of The Eliminator, which is not as difficult as achieving “Heads Up” in FH4, but it will require skill and patience to succeed. FH4’s equivalent achievement, “Last Car Standing” was only unlocked by 4% of the tracked TA players who started the update and are found with a TA ratio of 5.30.
Now, a Forza Horizon game wouldn’t be complete without a bunch of collectible-related achievements, and at first glance, Forza Horizon 5 has more than enough to keep us busy for hours. A basic achievement that has featured in Forza Horizon is one that requires you to travel all the roads in the game.Roll and seekThe realization in FH5 asks you to do just that. Since FH5’s Mexico map is 50% larger than FH4’s UK playing field, you can probably expect to spend even more time with your progress tracker stuck at 99% while trying to find that whole boring little road that you missed when you accidentally left the trail. “The noisy cartographer in FH4 was unlocked by 73,000 TA FH4 players being followed, which is about 22% of the 338,000 players on TA who started the game. We can probably expect similar numbers for ‘Roll and seek. ‘ The return of previous FH games is also an achievement that requires you to find and destroy all of the hidden bonus panels. There are 250 in Forza Horizon 5 compared to the 200 in Forza Horizon 4, and throwing your car through the 250 will earn you the ‘Complete collection‘ success. The equivalent achievement of FH4, “Official Horizon Board Game”, was unlocked by 41,000 tracked TA players and stands with a ratio of 2.87 (those found above buildings and barns are a real pain to obtain, is not it ?). True to the theme of hurtling your vehicle through things, we’ve got the brilliantly named ‘The cactus makes perfect‘, which apparently takes inspiration from the LEGO DLC achievement of FH4 Swamp Gas from a Weather Balloon. To unlock ‘The cactus makes perfect‘you will have to crush 500 cacti during the rainy season in Mexico. Depending on the length of the rainy season in FH5, it might take a little while to capture it.
Also on the collectibles front we have the ‘Magnate‘, which, according to Playground Games’ generosity with the credits in FH5, will likely take a long time to unlock. Success requires you to purchase all seven player houses distributed on the FH5 map. In FH4, to unlock the “Crowning Achievement” achievement, you had to purchase one of two castles, the less expensive one costing 10,000,000 credits. We don’t know the cost of FH5’s seven houses or how frivolous Playground will be with the credits, but if they come close to the price of this castle, there could be some grinding, although most will likely unlock this achievement naturally. in their time with the game. Barn finds are also back in FH5, and we’ll have to find one less than in FH4 – ‘Better than new‘asks you to restore 14 barn finds in Mexico.
One feature that Playground seems to be pushing with FH5 is photo mode, and that’s probably because FH5 is gorgeous. There are six achievements (none of which seem particularly difficult) for taking photos around the map of FH5, some in various locations, some with cars, and others that focus on the different storms in the game.
Of course, there are many other various achievements in Forza Horizon 5 to accomplish a variety of different challenges and tasks. One that could be particularly difficult is the ‘Living legend‘, which asks you to earn 300 PR Stunts stars in Mexico. We don’t know how many PR stunts are present in FH5, but we imagine that with this round number there will be 100 on the map, and to unlock the achievement you will need to earn three stars on each one. This is similar to FH4’s “Stunt Superhero” and FH3’s “PR Superstar”, both of which have TA ratios above 3.5.
Anecdotes
With the Horizon series being all about fun, of course, Playground added a bunch of silly and fun references with the list of Forza Horizon 5 achievements, which range from Star Wars to 19th century literature. Here are some of our favorites:
- Wings Ford is clearly a reference to The Lord of the Rings, and we imagine that the Eagle’s Perch danger sign involved in the making will be located at or near the top of the FH5 volcano.
- Race and pace and layout of the course refers to the lyrics of Cake’s mid-90s indie hit The Distance.
- Show me your moves! is a nod to the Super Smash Bros. series, especially F-Zero’s Captain Falcon, who yells this during some of his taunts.
- Chicken dinner is a definitive reference to the famous victory quote from PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, especially as it relates to the battle royale mode, The Eliminator.
- How to race with friends and influence people is a riff from Dale Carnegie’s famous book, How to Win Friends and Influence People.
- I have to crush them all – Pokémon reference? Must be a Pokémon reference, right?
- Ask any runner, any real runner is a direct quote from Dom, everyone’s favorite racing slaphead in the first Fast and Furious movie.
- Far from the muddy crowd is a one-letter twist on the title of Thomas Hardy’s fourth novel, Far From The Mad Crowd.
- There is always money in the Baja stand – if you are a stopped development, you will probably recognize this one. The name of the achievement here refers to: “There’s always money in the banana stand,” a line repeated several times by Jeffery Tambor’s character George Bluth Sr.
- A Forza edition to my collection is a riff on the General Grievous line, “A Nice Addition to My Collection” from Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
- I have the height is another Star Wars reference, again from Revenge of the Sith.
- Unlimited feat! – we think this one is another Reference to the revenge of the Sith, especially when Emperor Palpatine attacks Mace Windu shouting, “Unlimited power!”
