Cole Beasley expressed his frustrations with Bills fans following the team’s dominant victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday.
Beasley was booed by fans at Highmark Stadium on Sunday, possibly due to his controversial stance on the COVID-19 vaccine. Beasley, who was frank in his comments on the vaccine, insisted he was “pro-choice” on the issue despite backlash from fans and colleagues. Bills home games require guests to have at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine before attending.
Tension between the wide receiver – who said he was not vaccinated – and Bills fans increased on Monday when the NFL star raised his grievances on social media. In a series of tweets, he called fans who booed him before asking for a photo or autograph that same afternoon.
The tweet garnered hundreds of responses from fans. Bills beat reporter Matt Parrino suggested he confused fans by chanting a boo nickname, but Beasley said he was right.
Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban also rebutted the 32-year-old, calling some of Beasley’s reasons for refusing the vaccine “questionable” in a Twitter exchange. Beasley referred to cases of breakthroughs in the NFL.
“They can get covid from a vaccinated person,” Beasley wrote. “There are many examples of this throughout the NFL. “
Cuban referred to his own experience as a business owner navigating the challenges of a pandemic in a final tweet to Beasley. However, the Bills star is convinced that the vaccine warrants erase the public’s right to choose.
It’s not clear Beasley was approached for an autograph by the same fans who booed him, but the NFL star is clearly unhappy with Bills fans.
